A 2000-ben Miskolcon megalakult öttagú Zord esetében furcsán hathat, hogy a magyar zenekari név ellenére angol nyelven íródnak a szövegeik, de ezzel részben az a céljuk, hogy a hazai trendek ellenében saját útjukat járják, részben pedig az, hogy bármilyen külföldi közönség számára is befogadhatóak legyenek. Eddigi külhoni fellépéseik ennek eredményességét bizonyítják. Stílusukat tekintve gitárcentrikus metalban utaznak, melybe próbálnak némi progresszivitást is belecsempészni. Dalaikra elsősorban a nyers erő és lendület, húzós gitárhangzás jellemző, melyet helyenként páratlan ritmusok és egy csipetnyi pszichedelia jellemez. 2002-ben a "The Ghost" című dalukkal felkerültek a 'Rock határock nélkül' c. split koncert CD-re, melynek anyaga a közös Remorse - Friday (SK) - Zord - Flashback turné szlovákiai és magyarországi koncertállomásain készült felvételeket tartalmazza. 2004-ben a rendszeres klubkoncerteket, valamint a nyári fesztivál-fellépéseket követően, promóciós célzattal elkészítették "Little Disasters" c. hatszámos demóanyagukat. 2005 márciusában a Katapult Fest válogatás CD-re rögzítették "Pariah" című, erre az anyagra írt, friss dalukat. Emellett természetesen további új dalok születtek, melyekkel összeállt a csapat bemutatkozó albumának anyaga. Összesen tizenegy dal került rögzítésre, majd 2006. március 20-án ismét stúdióba (Denevér stúdió - Szolnok) vonult a zenekar, és felvette a szolnoki "Szolnok Soldiers" amerikai futball csapat felkérésére írt The Glory Rush (Soldiers of Football) című "futball himnusz"-t, ami a zenekar honlapjáról letölthető. 2006 nyarán többek között felléptek a Hegyalja Fesztiválon, a Szigeten, az immár szintén hagyománnyá érett arlói Tóparty Rockparty-n, és így eredményes fesztiválszezont tudhattak maguk mögött. Az ősz és a tél klubkoncertek, illetve a lemezanyag keverési munkáinak jegyében telt. 2007 első felében lényegében csak „hazai pályán” koncerteztek, majd következtek a nyári fesztivál bulik, ám a fő hangsúly a "Disasters Grind" című első Zord CD borítójának végső simításaira helyezték a srácok, illetve megkezdődtek a ”The Ghost” című dal videóklipjének előkészületei. Szeptember végén kezdődött, Nyíregyházától Paksig terjedő tizenegy állomásos túra, melynek utolsó állomása a 2007. december 27-i miskolci záró buli volt. Az album 2007 novemberében jelent meg a Nail Records gondozásában. Az eddig napvilágot látott recenziók (pl. Rockinform 2007. decemberi szám, www.rockgyemantok.hu , www.kronosmortus.hu stb.) alapvetően kedvező fogadtatásban részesítették az anyagot, és a közönség részéről is pozitív visszajelzések érkeztek, érkeznek. Érdemes elolvasni az USA-beli Heathen Harvest (www.heathenharvest.com) elismerő kritikáját is (2008. április)! A lemezbemutató koncertre 2007. november 22-én, a Rockwell klubban (Miskolci Egyetem) került sor. Ezen az estén a felvidékről, Ipolyságról érkezett Drastic Means volt a vendégzenekar, akik remek hangulatot teremtettek, majd az ő fellépésüket követően került sor a „The Ghost” című Zord dal videóklipjének az „ősbemutatójára”. Többéves munka eredményeként született meg az album, amelyet méltóképpen ünnepeltek meg a srácok. Számos olyan muzsikus is színpadra állt, aki egykoron játszott a Zordban, és tevékenyen hozzájárult ahhoz, hogy megszülessen ez a lemez. (Koncertbeszámoló: Rockinform 2008. február) A zenekar dalai, illetve a "Disasters Grind” album minden számának kb. egyperces részletei letölthetőek a www.zord.hu oldalról, illetve öt teljes dal mellett koncertvideók (Iced és Little Disasters – 2007. július 27-i JMB Fest koncert) hallhatók-láthatók a www.myspace.com/zordmetal web-site-on. Emellett az angol nyelvű szövegek, illetve ezek magyar fordításai is megtalálhatóak a zenekar honlapján. A „The Ghost” című dal videóklipje a hivatalos zenekari honlap mellett a www.youtube.com/zord és a www.myspace.com/zordmetal oldalakon is megtalálható. 2008 februárjában újra hazai klubportyára indult a Zord (Esztergom, Salgótarján, Szeged, Miskolc stb.), valamint megfordultak a Felvidéken (DrasticFest), majd a késő tavasztól megindult fesztiválszezon nyitányaként Erdélyben, a Sepsiszentgyörgy melletti Setétpatakon, a Drak River Rock Fest-en léptek fel május 23-án. ezt követően a JMB Rock Feszt nulladik napján (Nagyszínpad), a miskolctapolcai Rotor Táborban, a szabadszállási Sz.A.R. Fesztiválon játszott a csapat. A nyár második felében többek között felléptek a Saigon Nemzetközi Rocktáborban, a salgótarjáni ÉTER Fesztiválon és Budapesten a Művészbázis nevű klubban. A 2008-as fesztiválszezont az arlói Tóparti Rockparty-n zárta a Zord... November 4-én megjelent a kaliforniai 272 Records gondozásában a „Kill City Twelve” című válogatás album, amelyen a Zord a „The Ghost” című dalával képviseli a magyar színeket. A lemez többek között kapható a www.amazon.com portálon… 2010. május 14-e és 22-e között háromállomásos erdélyi "miniturnéra" indul a zenekar, majd a nyári fesztiválszezonban a hazai koncertek mellett, többek között fellép a csapat a Délvidéken, a Zentai Nyári Ifjúsági Játékokon, illetve a Felvidék több rendezvényén. Jelenleg a második Zord lemez dalainak az írására koncentrál a csapat. Gőzerővel próbál a zenekar, és a tervek szerint hamarosan feldemózzák a friss anyagot, majd stúdióba vonulnak, hogy rögzítsenek tizenegy-tizenkét vadonatúj számot. Biography The band named Zord was formed in October 2000. Up to that time the members had acted in several local (Miskolc, North Hungary) hordes, among others in the band called Atomic that released two albums in the mid ‘90s with massive support of its Swiss management. The present line-up is a result of a long – and occasionally bitter and troublesome – process. The name Zord is a Hungarian word that means “austere” or “bleak” in English. In the Hungarian rock and metal scene it is trendy to write and sing songs with Hungarian lyrics under English band names, but these guys often goes against the stream so they set out on an inverse way. The purpose was to teach foreign rockers one single Hungarian word, but write their lyrics in English, so wherever they go, their thoughts, Zord songs can be understood easily. Responds from foreign audiences they played for seem to prove the band is on the right way. Zord’s music tempts to a world of metal with heavy guitar riffs with some progressive elements. The main characters of their songs are determined by powerful chords, dynamic but sometimes twisted rhythms, rough vocals with blazing backing vocals and a bit of pale psychedelic feeling. In 2002 the very first release of the band came out, one of their first songs titled “The Ghost” got on the live split CD “Rock Without Borders”. The entire album was recorded in Slovakia and Hungary during the joint tour with Remorse (H), Friday (SK) and Flashback (H). After heavy club touring in 2004 Zord recorded their promotional stuff titled “Little Disasters” containing six devastating metal tracks. In the meantime additional songs were born in their underground rehearsal cell, so the entire material of the debut Zord album has been completed. Later on the band has entered the studio to record the first album of the quartet... Altogether eleven songs have been recorded. Meanwhile the band was requested by the American Football team called Szolnok Soldiers to compose and record their hymn, so after finishing the album mixing procedure, Zord entered the studio (Denever Studio – Szolnok) again on 20th March, 2006, and recorded the song entitled “The Glory Rush (Soldiers of Football)”. The result can be downloaded from the “Downloads” section of this site. In summer of 2006 the band appeared among others on the stages of Hegyalja Festival and Sziget Festival. In the beginning of 2007 the band had only local club gigs, and than Zord played on several summer festivals, but first of all they were focusing on the finishing touches to the Disasters Grind album cover. From September the band was on the road again, and played about ten venues until the end of the year. The second leg of "Disasters Tour" started in February, 2008. The debut album of the band entitled "Disasters Grind" was released in November, 2007! (Nail Records) The album gained positive reviews from the Hungarian music press (e.g. Rockinform magazine December 2007 issue, HammerWorld magazine February 2008 issue), domestic (www.kronosmortus.hu, www.passzio.hu, www.viharock.hu) and foreign webzines like www.heathenharvest.com (USA) www.rockpolis-media.com (RO), and responses from fans are also promising… The first video of the album was made for the song entitled "The Ghost". In February 2008 the band hit the road in Hungary again, but appeared in Slovakia (Sáhy) for a gig on Drastic Fest as well, and then as an opening event of the festival season starting in late spring Zord played on Dark River Rock Fest in Transylvania. The next show was on “Day Zero” on the JMB Rock Fest in June, where the quartet played on Main Stage. Afterwards several festival shows (Rotor Rock Camp, Sz.A.R. Festival, Saigon International Rock Camp, ETER Festival) came, and the Beach Rock Party was the closing event of Zord’s summer festival season in 2008. In February 2008 the band hit the road in Hungary again, but appeared in Slovakia (Sáhy) for a gig on Drastic Fest as well, and then as an opening event of the festival season starting in late spring Zord played on Dark River Rock Fest in Transylvania. The next show was on “Day Zero” on the JMB Rock Fest in June, where the quartet played on Main Stage. Afterwards several festival shows (Rotor Rock Camp, Sz.A.R. On 4th November, 2008 ‘272 Records released their 12th compilation record from their Kill City Series called “Kill City Twelve”, and the Hungarian Metal Scene is represented on the album by the song from Zord’s “Disasters Grind” album entitled “The Ghost”. The band will embark a three-show tour in Transylvania, kicking off on 14th May, 2010 in Sepsiszentgyörgy (Sfântu Gheorghe), continue in Csíkszereda (Miercurea Ciuc) on 21st, and end in Homoródfürdő (Băile Homorod) on the Motorbike Convention of Independent Eagles M.C.on 22nd. Later on Zord will appear on several domestic summer festivals and the Summer Youth-games in Zenta (Serbia), moreover on several music events in Slovakia as well. At present the band is focusing on writing the new songs for the second Zord album about to be released in 2010. Recently the guys have moved to their rehearsal room and are thundering the new songs now. The songwriting process and the demo recordings of new songs will be finished soon, and then Zord is going to enter the studio to record about a dozen of brand new metal blasts… |
